When I arrived this morning Don was still asleep and snoring. I was just in time as the breakfast trays were being delivered. They staff turned on the lights to wake the patients up and to let them know that breakfast was in the room. Don ate a good breakfast. He said he had woke up before 7:00 and wondered when I would be there. I could be there anytime he wanted me to be there. After breakfast OT came in along with PT to assess Don. They were able to get him up on the side of the bed with both feet on the ground (putting weight only on the right one). He was able to get his balance enough to sit all alone! We are finally back to the point we were at on Friday Dec. 12th, 2 days after surgery and before the Haldol incident. He was so happy to be up and sitting. He asked for a wheel chair and they asked him really. He said yes and they began to discuss the options of getting him into some type of chair. I had to leave at that point because I had a meeting with the Admissions Director. After the meeting the PT told me that she was hesitant in putting him in any type of chair today because they checked is blood pressure and it was like 160/120. She said that because of the Haldol they had to watch for things like that and she was afraid to try it and him be there all weekend with access to the chair and maybe have an episode with the BP and have something go wrong. Once he was relaxed again, the BP came back down just fine. The PT said that they would try it on Monday and see how it goes. Don is so looking forward to getting out of that bed for so many reasons. Don's parents were there this morning and offered to stay with him for me to run some errands. I was able to go to Wal-Mart while I was out to pick up somethings for Don's room. One item I picked up for him is a bird feeder that attaches to the window. Don's bed is beside a huge window. They have a shepherd's hook outside his window with a bird feeder on it. However it is so low to the ground, Don can't see it very well from his bed. Donnie Lee got the feeder attached to the window. Don was very happy and smiling when we came back in after placing the feeder outside. I can't wait to see the birds in the morning and see how thrilled he is to watch them. Don's parents said a few visitors dropped by bearing "goodies"while I was out and I hate that I missed them. Don immediately told who had been by and what he had received. Donnie Lee came by this morning before going to work. Kristi came by after work and Donnie Lee came back by on his lunch break. My cousin Sandra also stopped by with some more homemade goodies for Don. Don was very tired after supper and asked for his pain meds early so that he could go to sleep. I ended up staying until 9:00 anyway although he went to sleep before 8:30. When I left him he was doing well. Please pray that when they get him up on Monday that is BP will be normal. Just Keep Praying!!!
