Don got his haircut from the CNA. She also trimmed his beard & mustache and shaved his neck. He seemed a lot better this afternoon after the haircut and trim. The nurse even came to me and said that she had noticed a change in him and wondered if I had. I told her that I had. She told me just to talk to him and if there was anything they could do to help to let her know. Don had several visitors to come by today. His sister and her husband came by, my parents, both the kids, and his mom. Don's bandages had to be changed twice this afternoon and evening. Both times the drainage came through to his gown. Don's mom came about 4:00 and she stayed the rest of the evening with him. Kristi and I ran out to the Dollar Tree to pick up a few things and when we got back he had already eaten supper. His mom fed him and he ate most everything. Don was more talkative this evening than he has been, so that's an improvement. I left about 8:00 to come home and get the guest room ready for Don's mom. Kristi and Doris stayed until almost 9:00. All three of us helped to get him ready for bed in stages tonight. Don's mom will be going to feed Don breakfast tomorrow morning. Although I want to sleep in I feel somewhat guilty as I haven't missed a morning of feeding him breakfast since the accident. I have a hard time leaving him every night when I have to let alone other times. I will get to the center around noon as they will begin therapy around 1:00 and I have to be there for all his therapy. The plan is to do therapy everyday about 1:00 and he has 2 1/2 hours of therapy a day. Please pray as they resume therapy. They will really turn up the heat tomorrow as the only restrictions on right arm and left leg are "no weight bearing". The left hand can only have therapy on the elbow and shoulder. They will not be using the lift tomorrow to get Don in and out of bed so pray for his therapists that have to do that. Don is supposed to have a least one doctor appointment this week for his left hand and I am thinking he has one for his right arm as well. However there are two different doctors for each arm. Please continue to pray that the infection stays cleared up.

Day Forty Six
Sunday Jan. 18th 3:04 PM
Don slept OK last night. They had to change his bandages several times during the night. He ate a big breakfast this morning. He hasn't said much all day. He's been kinda quiet. He says he doesn't feel well. They changed his bandages again just before lunch. One of the CNAs is going to cut his hair this afternoon. He is sleeping right now. I hope that he gets to feeling better before bed time tonight. Please just keep praying!
Day Forty Five
Sunday Jan. 18th 8:45 AM
I was very slack yesterday with the blog. I apologize. I have to leave Don's room to update the blog and I don't like to do that. Don slept OK on Friday night. The nursing home is much different than the hospital. It is so busy all the time. The call buzzers go off all the time and the doors are hardly ever shut so they can keep an eye on the residents. It will just take some time to get adjusted to sleeping through all that goes on. Don said they had to change his dressing and gown several times through the night Friday. They had to change it several times during the day on Saturday too. I had to go to my acupuncturist on Saturday after sleeping all week in the chair at the hospital. It was a reclining chair, but nonetheless it took a toll on my back. Don's mother Doris came to stay with him so that I could go to that appointment and then try to run some errands, do some laundry and pick up at the house where we have just laid things down coming in and out so much. He had a good day and a few visitors. He ate most of his lunch and supper. I got back to the center about 4:30 and spent the rest of the evening with him. The kids came by about 8:00. As I was getting him ready for bed Don began to get anxious and said I promise I'm not going to break down again. He is really having a tough time psychologically. Please just keep praying!
