Day Ten Part Two

6:36
We were able to visit Don at 3:00 and things were some what better. Visiting hours were almost over at 11:00 this morning before we were allowed back to see Don. They allowed us to stay until 12:00 noon. To give a little more detail on what had happened in the early morning hours, at some point Don was a little confused. This was very surprising to us, as when Kristi and I left just before 11:00 last night, Don had been watching his favorite TV show "House". He was able to re-tell the accident to some other folks who just happened by. He was very tired and just wanted to sleep so Kristi and I left about 10:40. So back to the nights events, at some point Don was "confused". We were told that he was given some medication to sedate him and from that point it got out of control. His heart rate went up to the 130's. His blood pressure bottomed out. He had to be put back on the ventilator and his fever had shot up to 104. His kidneys are not functioning well. They told us that he is showing symptoms of neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Basically the meds that were given him to sedate him actually over stimulated him and he became very delusional again along with all the other issues. Long story short it was basically like someone over dosing on uppers. We are very fortunate that he is still with us at this point. His blood pressure has been brought up with medication. The ventilator his helping him to breath. His heart rate is good. His fever was down to 100.6. His kidneys were putting out more fluid. Please just keep praying! We need another miracle!

Day Ten

10:35 AM Saturday
We received a phone call from the hospital around 8:30 this morning to let us know that Don had progressively gotten worse over night. He has a fever of 104 and is delusional again. They had to reinsert the breathing tube and put an a-line in to make drawing blood and giving medication easier and faster. According to one of the doctors all this is a result of either an infection or an allergic reaction to one of the medicines they have given him. As of right now we haven't been able to go back to see him, however they have told us that he is stable. We will try to keep this updated as much as possible considering everything that is going on. Please continue to pray, we all need your prayers.
