Well, we thought we were going to leave CMC at 1:00 today according to our nurse this morning. Then about 10:15 or so they came in to tell us that we had been bumped to 4:00 - again! It is due to transportation this time. Don didn't rest well last night. His blood pressure was high before he went to bed. The staff was extremely busy last night and they couldn't get an assessment until 10:00 from the shift change. (At every shift change, the new nurse has to do an assessment of his condition.) Then respiratory came in and because he was sleeping well with no alarms going off they decided not to put him on his tent mask. About 11:00 it was one alarm after another because he was sleeping so well. So they had to call respiratory back down to turn on his oxygen and set his mask. He was up several times with pain issues and repositioning issues throughout the night. However our "favorite" doctor didn't come in at 5:20 - Thank the Lord!! We actually were able to sleep until about 6:30 before the routine started again. They found one more stitch that had to be removed so they did that this morning around 7:00. We ate breakfast and then around 8:00 they started the process of morning bath. It was almost 10:00 before they finished up with that. This floor is extremely busy and I think it will get worse being the trauma unit and this is new year's eve. I really hope we get out of here at 4:00 today! The nurses and NA have been very good to Don. He even told one of them that if they weren't as good to him at Lincoln Nursing Center he would call here and come back to this floor. Everyone is happy but sad to see him go. They absolutely love him! He has tried to sleep since they finished his bath at 10:00 but he has had one interruption after another. Oh, I forgot to mention that his BP was really high again this morning. So high the nurse was checking on meds for it. They finally let him rest awhile and the nurse checked it again and it was down. If his blood pressure had been up - we wouldn't have been able to leave. He is very stressed over leaving even though it is what is best. He told the nurse he wasn't doing PT today as it just wears him out and he is afraid that the move will be a bit much today. The nurse told him if he didn't feel up to it she understood. Just keep praying for us! I hope to have more to post about the move this evening!
