Day Forty Eight

10:10 PM
Don said he slept well last night. He ate a good breakfast and lunch. Don has been bothered be his left shoulder for several days. Today has been the worst. The Dr. K. incorrectly wrote Don's discharge orders on Friday and stated that he could not weight bare on either leg. Dr. K. also stated that he didn't want him to use the lift. OT called Dr. K's office yesterday but never heard from them. I spent about an hour today trying to get in touch with them. They stated that Don was not a patient of theirs and they had never seen him in the office. I explained that Dr. K had performed Don's surgeries at CMC-Chlt and that we needed the correct info to allow the therapists to do what they needed to do. After several voice mails and even several more attempts to contact them the office said they would have Dr. K's nurse call me back. When the nurse called back she spoke with the OT and said that we would have to come to our appointment on Feb. 2 to get the orders straightened out. The OT told her that she could tell the nurse right then that it wouldn't fly with the family to have Don wait until the Feb. appointment to get things straightened out. The nurse said that Dr. K was only in the office on Tuesday and he was already gone for the day. They changed Don's appointment to next Tuesday and hopefully we will be able to get things worked out. PT and OT was very hard on Don today. They really worked him over. After therapy Don stayed up in his chair until about 4:15. Oh, they got him a new chair - a barietric(sp?) chair. It was much more comfortable. They will go back to the lift tomorrow to get him in and out of bed. His dressing had to be changed twice today. It is draining a good bit. After supper Don just rested. He finally gave it up and went to sleep about 8:30. They came in just before 9:00 to give him his pain medicine and change his bandage for the night. We got him ready for bed and left about 9:30. Please keep praying!
