MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Although this is definitely not the way we have celebrated Christmas for the past 24 years, we were all together last night and this morning. I am thankful that both of our children decided (on their own) to spend the night in Don's hospital room so that we could all be together as we have been since they were born. Our kids have been great through this whole ordeal. They have had to do things for each of us that I am sure any other time they would not have done so willingly. It looks as if Don may be ready for discharge to a nursing facility tomorrow. Every doctor that he sees will have to agree that he is able to leave before it will become a reality. However ortho has released him and trauma is taking him off antibiotics except for meds for a UTI. Now we just have to see if the Brian Center has room, staff and equipment to take care of Don. Then we have to arrange transportation no matter where he goes. There are several facilities in Lincolnton & Gaston County is always an option. Don was lowered to 1 liter of oxygen and is doing well. One of the NA shaved Don's neck yesterday and Kristi trimmed his mustache this morning. The swelling has gone down some in his right arm and the left leg doesn't look so red this morning. We still need those blood clots gone from his body with no adverse effects. We also need all the excess fluid to drain. Please just keep praying!!
