Day Twenty Four

9:57AM

Don is doing well this morning. He didn't sleep much at all last night. We even had the staff to come in a do everything before 9:00 PM so that if he went to sleep, he wouldn't have to be woke up. He did go to sleep but was up before midnight. He was having trouble with sleeping and breathing. He seems to sleep pretty well as long as someone else is awake but when there is no one else awake he can't sleep. We are beginning to wonder if it is some type of anxiety. Respiratory is trying to find something that will help him as he really shouldn't take meds to help him sleep with the breathing issues. All the masks suffocate him and the hoses that goes in his nose doesn't help when he is sleeping because he is a mouth breather. I don't know if I have mentioned it before but Don is off all oxygen when he is awake. We try the oxygen nose sometimes when he is sleeping but as I mentioned earlier that doesn't help. As for the nursing facilities, it looks like Lincoln Nursing is the best place according to you folks. But please continue to let me know what you think. We want the best care possible for Don. The doctor said that they thought that some of the swelling in his legs is due to the clots - maybe not so much the fluids from 2 weeks ago. He is producing lots of fluid when they give him the lasiks but the swelling is not going away as we would like. Please keep praying!

Good morning
I am sorry I haven't sent anything to you before now, but I know Gary has been checking this site and keeping me updated and sending our love and prayers. I am glad Don is doing better and we pray that he will continue to. We know that it is a very difficult for him and for all of you but you know you are not alone at anytime God is always with you and so many of us are with you in our thoughts. I am glad we can go to this blog and be updated at any time. It hasn't been that long ago we were in a similar situation and all the phone calls to update people is very hard to do. Wilma wanted me to let you know she is also praying for all of you and to give all of you her love. I wish we could be there to help you in some way but at this time the best thing we can do is to keep praying and sending our thoughts and love to all of you. Continue to take care of yourselves and my buddy Don
Love and prayers
