Day Three Part Three

Don has not had a good evening. He had a visitor around 5:00 this evening and was joking and having fun. His dinner came and he wanted to eat only his jello. After just a few bites he began to get sick and wanted to stop eating. He even asked for the trash can because he that he was going to vomit. He began to get very restless and very hot. His vistor left and he asked to be uncovered as he was sweating. He said his left foot seemed to be turning out to the left again and asked me to straighten it up. I tried but felt it was something for the nurses as that is the leg that has the rod through it and is in traction. The nurse came in and said he was right that with all the moving around today it had gotten twisted. She got the nurses assistant to help her adjust the weights and traction line and reposition his leg. When I came back in the room, he was feeling even worse. He had big beads of sweat on his forehead and was talking a little abnormal and asking questions like he had no memory of some of the events of the day. He just continued to get hotter and we had the nurse to come in to take his temp. His temp was 98.4 but Don's normal temp in only 96.8. He asked me to remove all the cover from his body and to place a towel down his chest underneath is gown to absord the sweat. He just keeps saying he needs something but he doesn't know what and that he doesn't know what to do. It is 9:20 now and I can hear him snoring again and am thankful that he seems to be resting again. Please pray! He really needs some relief.
